Fished out of the Lorain area off of Beaver Creek. 3 of us had our limits by 11:30 am. Jet 10s 120ft behind the small boards on a Raspberry Dolphin Stinger was the best producer. Superman also behind a #1 sized dipsy set at 1 1/2 at 65ft was also good. Great action with Leadcorebean from OGF and my father in law. We had several fish in the 23-27 inch range.

Today I again hit the Beaver Creek area out of Lorain with Gary, Mike and Derek. It took us all day but we were able to finish our 24 fish off. Jet 10s again produced well 120ft back. Lights out 800 series Reef Runner 100-130 took several fish as well as the new Purple Barely Naked 800 took at huge 11 lb 4oz fish. Double willow bladed harnesses behind jet 30s 90ft out worked well today also. No set pattern to the bite, when we were on active fish they bit what we had out. Again 4 fish that were 27inches or better. What a stringer of fish! They are pictured in the photo gallery. I know the stringer is a bit hokie but I had to improvise!

Today Lorain was the choice again fishing with Jack Dwyer and Carlton Gilum. We had our 18 fish by 11:30am and caught and released another 20. 3 fish were 27+ inches with a sweet 31 that came on whats becoming my favorite crank, Lights Out back 55ft behind the big boards. Any green spoons worked behind jet 10s, 20s and 30s with most depths firing. What a great day and what a great walleye fishery we have. Im leaving on Vacation this coming week and will be back fishing June 27th and 28th. See the photo gallery for todays pictures.

We had our work cut out for us today. Josh Keeney and his dad and a buddy fished with us yesterday out of Fairport first for walleye and picked up only 6 in a few hours and then decided to hit the bubble for smallies and that was a dud except for some sheephead. Due to the waves making the guys a bit queezy we decided to head in and regroup. Capt Al (Big Johnson Fishing Charters) luckily had some Nauzene to give them and pepped them back up. We went back out to Cleveland and within 2 hours we had tickets punched to salvage the day with a bonus Chromer. Jet 30s and 40s and big dipsys worked all over and the Stinger Rattlesnake spoon was a walleye favorite. A BIG thanks to Al for all his help!!! Nice fishing with Josh and crew and hope to see them back. We had a 2nd day scheduled but with the weather forecast our trip was cancelled.

The weather forecast was wrong again, instead of the 2ft or less forecast we went out in 3-5s and made the best of it. Normally those trips get cancelled but it didnt kick up until we made it to the spot. We were able to get the 4 pack from near Cincinnati their fish out of Cleveland. We ended up with 27 or so at the end. Stingers in LamiCakes behind big dipsys worked well as well as Jet 30s and 40s. Joes Pirate spoons and small kevorkian stingers did well also. There is a picture of the group in the gallery.

Today we hiked East to Geneva to fish with Ashley Ogle, her boyfriend Mike and their friends Steve and Jeannie. We trolled straight out of Ashtabula and only managed 10 eyes and one steelnead. I hate to make excuses but I havent been to Geneva in about 3 years so I wasnt quite used to the 70+ft trolling. (Ashley Im sorry I cant get your pictures to transfer over but I'll keep working on it)

Dave Ulrich, his son Dave, Grandson Daniel and their buddy Max fished out of Lorain today around the 35-15 line and slow trolled colorado harnesses and got their 24fish by around noon. What a great day on the lake!
July 27, 2008
Kevin Gurkovic and his buddies fished today and we headed out of Lorain again and pulled their 18 fish limits by noon and were chased off the lake by the nasty 3-5ft waves out of the West. Slow trolling harnesses 2, 3 and 4oz weights behind inline boards worked well as they did yesterday. This slow trolling bit is the next best thing to drifting!

Bill Halsey, Bob Walton and Tom Murphy made the drive from the Cincinnati area to fish Lorain. Again Mother Nature thew us rough water but the fish didnt mind. We fished and got 11 fairly fast and hit a slow time and between 1pm and 1:40 we boated 16 more fish having to throw a few back since our limit was filled. We slow trolled double willows behind inline weights and dipsy divers- Double orange crush, chicken wing and margarita colors were hot! What a great day despite the seas.

Bill and Bob stuck around for another trip while Tom had to get home. NOAA said 2ft or less but again we motored out in 3-4's out of the North and sat down where we left off Saturday. We had a very slow pick going but then within about 10minutes we boated 3 consecutive eyes that were cookie cutter 27 1/2 inches. We boated our last fish around noon and were able to add the 4th that was over 27 inches. Same program as Saturday. What a great weekend for the Cincy guys!

Fished with Jimmy Jones, buddies Matt and Morris today. Lorain area again pulling double willows. Most fish were taken on dipsys 75-90ft back and 2-3oz inlines various depths. The last of the tickets were punched around 11am as the lake started to build again. Its been a windy summer, bout time for some calm fishing. What a great group of guys to fish with. I have a trip scheduled for Tuesday but the wind forecast looks like another washing machine.
